DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS, UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH YOGYAKARTA WILL ORGANIZE THE 3RD SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM (3RD IT YIELDS 2020)

International Program for Islamic Economics and Finance, Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta proudly organizes an event, called: “International Training for Young Islamic Economic Leaders (IT-YIELds) 2020”. This program is designed to develop leadership skill, upgrading knowledge and a medium for interaction among academicians, practitioners and regulators pertaining various issues on economics, either from Islamic and conventional perspective. This year, we focus on “Promoting Green Economy and Risk Management for Achieving Sustainable Development Agenda”
Sustainable cities as engines for greening the economy. We place cities in the context of sustainable urban transformation and climate change. Sustainable urban transformation refers to structural transformation processes – multi-dimensional and radical change – that can effectively direct urban development towards ambitious sustainability and climate goals.
In addition, The role role of risk management becomes important in the midst of global uncertainty. The vulnerability exists as a response of such uncertain condition. Eventually, regulators around the world increasingly realize that sound risk management practices are vital. Risk management technically enables not only for individual banks, but also financial system as a whole. Some countries implement dual banking systems where conventional hand in hand with Islamic bank. However, due to different paradigms in their both operations, the way on managing risk could differ. Moreover, althought Islamic banks are accounted for a small portion, but its role is increasingly important and attract diverse background to be involved due to its unique characteristics and upholds Islamic principles.
The 3rd IT YIELds will be conducted in English starting from August 10 to 28, 2020. It will be using online learning system of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (MyKlass UMY) combined with syncronized tools, such as Microsoft teams or zoom. The learning also will be guided by prominent speakers from various countries and background, including academicians, practitioners, and policy makers. This program is targeted to 40 selected diploma and undergraduate students from various fields and open for financial assistance if deemed necessary.
