The condition of the Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in many schools having to plan and develop online learning. These conditions were experienced by SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan, Banguntapan, Bantul. To handle such conditions, these schools develop multimedia learning. To support the development of this learning, the community service team of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) provided online multimedia learning assistance to SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan on Friday (22/5). The assistance provided is in the form of learning videos and multimedia equipment, which are intended to support online learning and multimedia in schools. The UMY service team, led by Budi Dwi Arifianto and Fajar Junaedi, has been running a three-month service program.
The principal of SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan, Andi Budi Rahmawanto stated that the assistance from UMY greatly helped the learning process in the school. “UMY’s service program at our school has been very useful for developing online learning and multimedia at school,” he explained. Andi added that the learning videos made have been utilized for online learning and uploaded to the school’s official YouTube account. “We are transforming SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan into an excellent and fun-loving school supported by multimedia learning content,” he explained.
The Head of the UMY Service Team, Budi Dwi Arifianto stated that the service program had been carried out since February. “We have started this community service program since February. In the midst of the implementation of the program, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred so we modified the service program to fit the needs of the school,” explained the UMY Communication Studies Lecturer.
Budi also added that the learning videos submitted were filmed at the UMY Communication Studies Laboratory with the help of teachers from SD Muhammadiyah Kalangan. “The service program with the theme of making multimedia learning media for elementary schools is a series of community service programs that are run with the assistance of UMY through the Research, Publication and Community Service Institute (LP3M),” he concluded.
