International Program for Islamic Economics and Finance (IPIEF) presents Guest Lecture Series. This Even semester’s 11th Guest Lecture Class Series is on Monday, 11th April 2022 at 11.00 AM – 13.00 AM WIB, Through the online Zoom meeting. IPIEF invited extraordinary lecturers, Hamid Abdulkhaleq Hasan A, Ph.D. from Universiti Utara Malaysia. The meeting was moderator directly by IPIEF lecturer Dr. Abdullah M. Ahmed Al-Ansi, M.BA with the discussion topic is Recognizes the time value of money. This class was mainly attended by IPIEF Students and open for other students to join the class via youtube live stream.
Mr. Hasan tell the student about the Value of Money. Money has value because that money can be invested with the expectation of earning a positive rate of return (as we learn previously), so we can earn more money over time if we invest it at a certain rate of return (investment-opportunitycost). The logics are $1000 today is worth more than the expectation of $1000 tomorrow because :
- Investment à a bank would pay interest on the $1000
- Inflation à makes tomorrows $1000 less valuable than today’s
- Uncertainty à of receiving tomorrow’s $1000
Mr. Hasan teach the student how to calculate the value of money and he delivered easily to understand. Alhamdulillah about 40 Students join this class.
