IPIEF student met economics Nobel laureate in Kasetsat University, Thailand.
The lecture “Peace and Economic Development in the Age of Globalization” was delivered by Professor Finn Erling Kydland, a Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences (2004).
It was held at Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Economics on March 11, 2024. our IPIEF Student Muhammad Rezaul Haider, who is currently doing a student exchange, had the privilege to join that program and had a small conversation with the Nobel laureate.
Professor Kydland is a renowned economist known for his work on business cycles and monetary policy.
- The lecture focused on how globalization can promote both economic development and create challenges for maintaining peace.
Professor Kydland also have explored topics:
- How increased trade and investment can lead to economic growth and poverty reduction.
- How globalization can lead to job losses and income inequality in some countries.
- The role of international institutions in promoting global peace and stability.
