My name is Xu Ziyu, a junior student from the school of Economic, SIAS university. In the first semester of my junior year, I studied as an exchange student in Economic department,University MuhammadiyahYogyakarta.
Academic experience:
When i came to UMY, this new environment, new school, new classmates, I am full of new fresh feelings and curiosity.
Because my native language is Chinese, so English class and books are difficult for me to learn. at first, I didn’t understand the lecture, my English really bad. But lecturers always patiently helps me to solve problems and answers my all questions, and timely correcting my mistakes. My classmates always helped me when I was in trouble. I thank them very much, I feel very warm in my heart.
In UMY, I learned how to make a PPT and explain it in class, which greatly improved my practical abilities and competence, and I became less shy. I felt the flexibility of the class, and the professor could relax talk with the students about academic subjects. And UMY students ‘ thirst for knowledge is very strong.
Non academic experience:
Indonesian people are kind and simple, and this is what I feel from the first day I step into this beautiful land.
People on the road will smile at me even if they don’t know me, which makes my heart very warm. UMY often organized our international exchange student for many outdoor activities, such as JAVA summer camps, and outdoor craft competitions. I met with friends from many places in these activities and played with them let me felt very happy. What impressed me most was that the IPIEF Office gave us three of exchange students , attending UIN seminar. Although there’s a little bit of boredom in the seminar, it’s really a very important experience.
Apart from some of the activities organized by the school organization, I visited many places, such as famous Borobudu Temple 、 Jomblang cave, Timang beach…I won’t forget these beautiful places.

During the four months here, time passed very quickly and I was very reluctant to leave. It was a very important and wonderful experience in my life, which I will always remember.
