FEB UMY Conducted Collaboration Visit to 4 Universities in Thailand and Malaysia

Malaysia – April 2 – 1, 2019, Dr. Diah Setyawati Dewanti and Dr. Dimas Bagus Wiranatakusuma guided the 2017 IPIEF students to do Field Lectures (Kuliah Kerja Lapangan/KKL) to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

In Thailand, Dr. Diah Dewanti as a Thailand PIC FEB UMY escorted students and visited Khon Kaen University on April 4, 2019. The visit aimed to expand the student exchange cooperation meeting from FEB UMY to Khon Kaen University was discussed.

Furthermore, from April 5, 2019 to April 8, 2019, students conducted KKL in Malaysia guided by Dr. Dimas Bagus Wiranatakusuma as the Malaysian PIC. On April 7, 2019, IPIEF students visited the Muhammadiyah Special Branch Manager (Perwakilan Cabang Istimewa Muhammadiyah/PCIM) in Kuala Lumpur and was warm welcomed by Dr. Sonny Zulhuda as PCIM Chair. In his remarks, he welcomed the arrival of the IPIEF FEB UMY as well as exploring the opportunities for International KKN between UMY and PCIM.

Furthermore, on April 8, 2019, Dr. Dimas Kusuma met with Prof. Sulaiman as dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). For 2 hours we initiated the possibility of student exchanges between FEB UMY and UniKL, joint research, and joint conferences and staff mobility. Thus, UniKL will send the MoA draft as a basis for strengthening cooperation. In addition, on the same day, we met with Prof. Rosylin, University of Malaysia (UUM) Postgraduate Program Lecturer in Kuala Lumpur. For 2 hours we also explored opportunities for strengthening cooperation in joint conference, mobility and joint research staff, especially in the fields of economics, finance and banking.

The last visit to the International Center for Islamic Finance (INCEIF) Malaysia, on April 9, 2019. We were received directly by the Dean of INCEIF, Prof. Mansor Ibrahim. INCEIF was very open regarding a number of FEB UMY cooperation offers, such as joint research, joint conferences, mobility staff, and S2 scholarships at INCEIF. In fact, INCEIF offers direct open recruitment at UMY to find candidates for both Masters and S3 programs
