Three IPIEF Students were selected to Join Student Exchange

As part of International Program for Islamic Economics and Finance (IPIEF)’s missions which is to be the leading department offering Islamic Economics and Finance, student exchange is becoming increasingly important. Thus, there have been more and more students of IPIEF involved in this programme. There are three students enrolling in this programme this year; one of them will be studying in SIAS University of China, while the rest have chosen Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) to be their destination. Student exchange programme has also been a mutual cooperation ensured by UMY, SIAS and USIM for years.
“Such a programme which has been annual agenda aims to develop the intellectual capability of students. More importantly, through this programme, it is hoped they will be able to have soft skills necessary to face challenges ahead particularly when they are in professional work”, Dr. Rizal Yaya, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business, emphasized when delivering his speech in inaugural ceremony on Friday (13/10), held in meeting room of FEB UMY. He also highlighted the importance of student exchange to gain valuable international experiences that will be highly beneficial to pursue a promising career.
According to Director of IPIEF UMY, Dimas Bagus Wiranatakusuma, SE., M.Ec., this programme is deemed to be very important for improving academic capability and encouraging international cooperation between UMY and foreign universities, therefore “I hope that this collaborative programme will possibly motivate IPIEF’s students to be prepared for tackling global challenges. In addition, this prograame is basically in agreement with the IPIEF’s vision to be a reputable international program in Islamic Economics and Finance in ASEAN.”
As mentioned earlier, there are three students of IPIEF who are selected to join this programme, those are Adinda A. Rosyadha (IPIEF 2015), Adra Sari (IPIEF 2015) and Satria Malik (IPIEF 2014). Both Adinda and Adra will be studying in University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) for a semester and the course credits earned during the study abroad will be transferred to UMY credit system, meanwhile Satria has to live and learn a year in SIAS University.
