Faculty of Economics and Business UMY Develops International Cooperation to the Several Universities in Malaysia

Malaysia – Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has made a road map university development towards Reputable International University. Thus, at present the university encourages the expansion and strengthening of cooperation with world-reputed campuses and the best campuses in ASEAN. Along with the spirit of internationalization, all part of universities, including the Faculty of Economics and Business, are trying to support the university’s achievement plan.
Malaysia is known as the closest neighbor that has a lot of the best campuses in ASEAN. In fact, UMY has carried out many MoU and MoA in cooperation and actively cooperates, for example in credit transfers, joint research, visiting professors, and joint conferences.
On January 23-25, 2019, FEB, in this case the Dean and Director of IPIEF conducted a joint visit to the Universitas Sains Malaysia Penang (USM), Universitas Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universitas Malaya (UM), and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) .
On January 23, 2019, a visit to USM, precisely the School of Management. Our visit was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Noor Hazlina Ahmad as Dean and Dr. Anwar Pitchay as a USM lecturer. In the discussion, several things were discussed related to student exchange offers in September 2019, joint research, visiting fellow, and joint conference. FEB hopes that school of management USM can become a strategic partner in developing of internationalization among UMY’s academic community.
On January 24, 2019, the visit continued to UUM, a campus bordering Thailand. On this visit, we were welcomed by several officials and lecturers at the School of Economics, including Dr. Azira Abdul Adziz as vice dean, Dr Bakti Hasan Basri as Head of Economics Department, Dr. Shazida and Dr. Shamzaeffa as lecturers. In the meeting, both parties presented academic developments and talks about cooperation in student exchanges, joint research, joint conferences, and visiting fellows. As a result, UUM greatly appreciated the offer of cooperation from FEB and was open to invitations in various programs to be carried out. As with USM, FEB hopes that UUM can become a strategic campus in developing the internationalized of FEB.
On January 25, 2019, the visit continued to the IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance in Kuala Lumpur. As a fellow campus and a program that focuses on the area of ​​Islamic finance, Dr. Adam Abdullah as Vice Dean of Academic and Dr. Anwar as a lecturer, agreed to strengthen research and publications, including team teaching in both institutions. They were also interested to learning about Muhammadiyah waqf who succesed be primary in developing Muhammadiyah.
On the same date, the visit continued to  Universiti Malaya, the School of Economics and Administration. We were welcomed by Dr. Rohana Jani as dean and Dr. Azmah Othman as vice dean. In the meeting, were agreed on student exchange, joint research, visiting fellow, and joint conference. The hope that UM will become a strategic campus because it’s the world’s best 100 campus.Finally, the FEB team visit to several campuses is expected to be a good start in enhancing FEB’s international reputation and raising UMY’s accreditation on the world reach.
